The teenager will get opportunity to officiate in another international tournament
17-year-old Angelous Akurugu selected for CAF African Schools Football Championship

Adongo Angelous Akurugu, a 17-year-old prodigy from Navrongo in Ghana’s Upper East Region, has been selected to officiate in the upcoming CAF African Schools Football Championship.
His journey to this prestigious tournament began when he was discovered through the Catch Them Young Refereeing Project, an initiative that aims to identify and nurture young refereeing talent.

As a student at Navrongo Senior High School, Adongo has been honing his skills and gaining valuable experience in various competitions.
Angelous Akurugu has officiated in the KGL U-17 tournament, the Division One League Super Cup in Abrankese (2023) and Nsoatre (2024), and even made his mark in the WAFU Africa Schools Championship Qualifiers in Niger last year.
Adongo’s impressive performances have earned him a reputation as a talented and dedicated referee.

His most recent assignment was the quarterfinal of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup game between Attram De Visser and PAC Academy at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, where he demonstrated his ability to handle high-pressure situations.
Now, Adongo is set to take his talents to the CAF African Schools Football Championship, scheduled to take place in Accra from April 21 to 26, 2025.
With his exceptional skills and dedication, he is poised to become a leading figure in Ghanaian football refereeing.
