AC Milan agree €42m deal to sign Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea

According to The Athletic, AC Milan and Chelsea have reached an agreement over the permanent transfer of forward Christopher Nkunku.
The Serie A club will pay a fee of €42million (£36.2m) plus a sell-on clause for the 27-year-old, with personal terms agreed and permission granted for the player to travel to complete the move.

Milan were exploring a deal for Nkunku and had opened talks with Chelsea.
The France international had also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and former club RB Leipzig but is now set for a move to Italy.
Nkunku has been left out of head coach Enzo Maresca’s first two Premier League matchday squads amid growing expectations of his departure this summer.
Milan have been searching for attacking reinforcements throughout the transfer window, previously lining up a medical for Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and considering a move for Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder, but neither transfer materialised.

Nkunku joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and has since made 62 appearances, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists.
Last season, he featured in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 14 goals, and played in six of Chelsea’s seven Club World Cup fixtures.
Milan, who finished eighth in Serie A last season, lost their opening match of the 2025–26 campaign and face Lecce next on Friday.
