AC Milan open talks to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Arsenal

Reports suggest that the fee could be around €15 million (£13 million), a figure that aligns with Zinchenko’s Champions League experience and adaptability

With Zinchenko entering the final year of his deal, Milan sees an opportunity to strengthen their defense and midfield options in the upcoming transfer window.

The 28-year-old Zinchenko is viewed as a prime candidate to replace Theo Hernández, who is anticipated to depart this summer. Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare was recently in London, indicating that discussions between the two clubs are already underway.

The transfer move could provide Milan with a versatile and experienced player capable of filling multiple roles on the pitch, including left-back and midfield positions. One of the key factors encouraging Milan’s interest is the relatively modest transfer fee Arsenal is expected to demand.

Reports suggest that the fee could be around €15 million (£13 million), a figure that aligns with Zinchenko’s Champions League experience and adaptability. His ability to control the tempo of play and contribute both defensively and offensively makes him an attractive target for the Italian side.

However, the biggest hurdle remains Zinchenko’s wages, as he currently earns approximately €5 million (£4.2 million) per season at Arsenal. Milan is working to find a financial solution that would accommodate his salary expectations within their budget constraints.

Zinchenko’s extensive experience with Manchester City and Arsenal, including nearly a decade of Champions League participation, adds significant value to his potential transfer. In addition to Zinchenko, Milan is also considering Granit Xhaka as a potential signing.

The Swiss midfielder’s future at Bayer Leverkusen is uncertain following the departure of Xabi Alonso, and his contract in Germany extends until 2028. The transfer strategy appears focused on bolstering Milan’s midfield and defensive options to bolster their chances in domestic and European competitions.
