AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has promised contract talks with club captain Mike Maignan
AC Milan to hold contract talks with goalkeeper Mike Maignan

AC Milan are bent on keeping star goalkeeper Mike Maignan, amid past strong interest from Premier League side Chelsea, and the club’s sporting director, Igli Tare, has “promised” that contract talks will take place with the goalkeeper soon.
Milan remain resolute in their stance to keep the French international for many years, with Italian giants Juventus also showing significant interest, while the club chief maintains that the “extraordinary” shot-stopper is happy at San Siro.
Tare has moved quickly to quash all rumours surrounding the potential departure of the club captain, with his current contract set to expire in the summer.

The uncertainty surrounding his stay in Italy with Milan has given Chelsea, who were after his signature in the summer transfer window, a boost, while Serie A rivals Juventus are reportedly monitoring the situation closely.
Mike Maignan’s transfer to Chelsea fell through back in June, after the Club World Cup champions decided against meeting Milan’s valuation for the 30-year-old.
However, speaking ahead of Milan’s clash with Sassuolo, Tare remained positive, emphasising the strong relationship between the player and the club, suggesting that while financial discussions have not yet been formally finalised, the mutual desire to continue working together remains.
“Maignan renewal? We have never talked about numbers,” Tare told the press. “Talking about Mike is easy, he is an extraordinary boy and a great leader.
“He likes being at Milan, and Milan likes him being here, but now let’s think about the game, and then we will talk about it.”
The outcome of Maignan’s contract talks with Milan will be closely watched, as suitors like Chelsea and Juventus wait in the wings—ready to pounce depending on the Rossoneri’s decision.
