Ajax open to selling Liverpool and Chelsea target Jorrel Hato

Chelsea are currently leading the race for Hato’s signature

Ajax are reportedly prepared to sell Jorrel Hato this summer, with strong interest from Premier League giants Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

According to journalist Mike Verweij, all three English clubs have expressed serious interest in the highly-rated youngster, who could leave the Eredivisie if an appropriate offer comes in.

Verweij further claims that Chelsea have already held initial talks with Ajax and are currently leading the race for Hato’s signature.

Jorrel Hato made his breakthrough into Ajax’s first team in 2023 at just 16 years old, debuting under then-manager John Heitinga.

The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in world football, with his performances for Ajax attracting the attention of top clubs across Europe.

His consistent displays have made him one of the most sought-after young defenders, and the Eredivisie side could be tempted to cash in on him should the right offer materialise.

Ajax, who currently lead the Eredivisie by seven points, will return to action on May 11, facing NEC at home in their next league fixture.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur, Verweij said: “So, Ajax has spoken to Chelsea about Hato. But he has also been linked to Liverpool and Arsenal. That is what you want as a Dutch club.

“That also happened with Lisandro Martínez, and then the price can go to a level that makes you really happy. They will be rubbing their hands with glee.

“I don’t think Ajax will care much whether he goes to Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool. Because then he will become a player for the main prize again.”
