Ange Postecoglou confirms key Spurs player will miss Liverpool clash

Tottenham find themselves in 16th place in the table with little to play for on Sunday

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that captain Heung-Min Son will not be available for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

Son is still recovering from the foot injury that has ruled him out of the club’s last three matches – against Wolves, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Nottingham Forest.

On a more positive note, Postecoglou stated that the rest of the squad came through Monday night’s fixture against Forest without any fresh injury concerns.

As it stands, only Son and long-term absentee Radu Drăgușin remain sidelined.

Son-Heung-min has been missing for Spurs since the first-leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Frankfurt

Postecoglou said: “In terms of rehab, Sonny’s the only one who is going through that process, improving, but not ready for Sunday.

“Again, with the programme we have coming up, Thursday obviously is a big night for us, so it will be a matter of playing a few that need the game time and others we feel may need less exposure, we’ll have a look at that.”

Tottenham find themselves in 16th place in the table with little to play for as they head into Sunday’s match against Liverpool.

In contrast, the Reds have everything to play for, with the opportunity to win the league with just a draw at Anfield.

Looking ahead to the Liverpool fixture, Postecoglou hinted at possible changes due to the upcoming Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

“With the schedule we have, Thursday is a big night for us,” he said.

“It’ll be a matter of giving game time to those who need it, while also considering the players who may require less exposure. We’ll assess that situation.”
