Arsenal consider shock move to re-sign Emiliano Martinez

Arsenal are reportedly considering a surprising bid to re-sign goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, as uncertainty looms over David Raya’s future at the club.
Martinez appeared to bid farewell to Aston Villa fans following last week’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham, sparking rumours that he may be heading to a Saudi Pro League club this summer.
However, according to The Sun, Arsenal could be his next destination.

Martinez left Arsenal in 2020 to join Villa, where he quickly established himself as one of the world’s top goalkeepers.
He also played a key role for Argentina, helping them lift the 2022 World Cup.
The report suggests that Arsenal’s renewed interest in the 32-year-old is driven by doubts surrounding Raya, who has been identified as Real Madrid’s potential long-term replacement for Thibaut Courtois.
Raya is also attracting attention from Atletico Madrid, who fear their own goalkeeper, Jan Oblak, might leave for the lucrative Saudi Arabian league this summer.

Martinez could make his final appearance for Villa on Sunday as they aim to secure a top-five finish away at Manchester United.
Dwight Yorke, earlier this week, urged the Red Devils to consider making a bid for Martínez, stating that the Argentinian is a ‘far better goalkeeper’ than Andre Onana.
“It’s kind of a no-brainer,” the former United striker told gamblingindustrynews.com.
“Emi Martinez has been really exceptional for a number of years and again you could see why huge clubs would want him.
“I mean Man United, I know they’re struggling, but even now you’d have to consider it because they’re such a huge club.
“He wouldn’t just be bringing experience, but he’s a far better goalkeeper than Andre Onana, just going by the numbers.”
