Ayew family fires back at Otto Addo over ‘disrespectful’ comments

Fiifi Tackie, spokesperson for the Ayew family, has launched a scathing attack on Black Stars head coach Otto Addo over his recent comments on Andre Ayew.
Coach Addo had revealed in an interview with Joy Sports that Ayew has fallen down the pecking order for national team call-ups, despite his impressive form for Le Havre.

Tackie expressed shock and disappointment at Addo’s comments, questioning the coach’s criteria for selection.
“How can Ghana’s most-capped player, a three-time World Cup veteran, and a proven leader be deemed unworthy even when playing well at his club in the French league?” Tackie asked.
Tackie also accused Addo of undermining Ayew’s sacrifices and legacy, pointing out the player’s consistent delivery for the national team.

“Ayew’s experience, leadership, and track record in major tournaments speak volumes. It is baffling that a coach who failed to qualify Ghana for this year’s Africa Cup of Nations would so casually dismiss the contributions of a player who has consistently delivered for his country,” Tackie said.
He concluded that Addo’s comments were unprofessional and disrespectful to Ayew, undermining his sacrifices and the pride he has brought to Ghana football.

However, the team’s fortunes have not been affected by his absence, thanks to the inspirational leadership of his brother, Jordan Ayew.
Jordan has expertly captained the side to crucial victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana now sits atop Group I with 15 points and four games remaining, a testament to Jordan’s leadership and the team’s resilience.
