Bayer Leverkusen reject Liverpool’s second bid for Florian Wirtz

Bayer Leverkusen have turned down a second offer from Liverpool for Germany international Florian Wirtz, according to Bild.
Leverkusen are keen to secure a €150m (£127m) for the 22-year-old who has emerged as a key target and is reportedly keen on making the move to Anfield.
Wirtz has decided to leave the Bundesliga and is poised to join the Premier League champions in a club-record transfer.

As per German magazine Kicker, Liverpool offered a fixed sum of €118million ($134million) plus €12million in bonus payments. The Reds’ first bid for the attacking midfielder consisted of €100million plus €15million in additional payments.
It is also reported that the Bundesliga side are interested in Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott or defender Jarell Quansah.
Wirtz has been a standout performer for Bayer Leverkusen in recent seasons, netting 16 goals and providing 15 assists last season.
Having established himself as a key figure for both club and country, he impressed notably at Euro 2024.

After five years at Leverkusen, where he played a vital role in their Bundesliga campaign during the 2023/24 season, the Germany international is eager for a new challenge.
Bayern Munich had pursued the midfielder for nearly two years and were confident he preferred a move to Munich.
However, Wirtz’s father and agent, Hans-Joachim, informed Bayern’s leadership that the young talent would be heading elsewhere.
Bayern president Hainer declared: “Max Eberl [sporting director] informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool.”
