Bayern Munich eyes Roma’s Svilar as potential replacement for Neuer

Roma’s failure to finalize a contract renewal with goalkeeper Mile Svilar has alerted several top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Newcastle United, according to Corriere della Sera.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper, who currently earns €1 million annually, has requested a significant salary increase to €4 million, which has created a gap between his demands and Roma’s offer.

The situation has become increasingly complicated, with Svilar’s camp and Roma also disagreeing on the inclusion of a release clause in the new deal and its value.

With the goalkeeper’s contract set to expire in 2027, Roma faces a challenging task in convincing him to stay, especially with top clubs circling. Bayern Munich, in particular, may see Svilar as a potential long-term replacement for the 38-year-old Manuel Neuer.

Chelsea, meanwhile, has struggled to find consistency in goal, alternating between Roberto Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen this season.

The Blues may view Svilar as a reliable and talented young goalkeeper who can provide stability between the posts.

Newcastle United is also reportedly interested in signing Svilar, highlighting the intense competition Roma faces in retaining their prized goalkeeper.

Svilar’s impressive performances this season have caught the attention of top clubs. He has allowed just 30 goals and made 85 saves, ranking second in Serie A behind Vanja Milinkovic-Savic when combining these two statistics.

Roma’s failure to secure Svilar’s long-term future may prove costly, as they risk losing a talented young goalkeeper who could have been a cornerstone of their team for years to come.
