Burnley and Leeds return to the Premier League with two games to spare
Burnley and Leeds earn promotion back to the Premier League

Burnley and Leeds United have both earned promotions back into the Premier League with two games to spare on Easter Monday.
Burnley’s Josh Brownhill’s first-half double secures a 2-1 win for the Clarets against third-placed Sheffield United, who are eight points adrift of securing a place in the Premier League at the first time of asking, as reported by the governing body.
Burnley’s win confirms an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation from the competition in 2023/24.

Leeds United, on the other hand, trashed Stoke City 6-0 to book their place in the elite English competition with Joel Piroe claiming four to book their return to the top flight.
After beating Stoke City 6-0 earlier in the day, Leeds knew that anything other than a Sheffield United win in their match at Burnley would seal their top-flight return, while a victory for the Clarets would ensure automatic promotion for both Leeds and Burnley.

Burnley and Leeds both won their home games on Easter Monday, securing automatic slots. This is because they can no longer be caught by third-placed Sheff Utd or any other team lower in the table.
Both clubs have 94 points with only two matches, or six points, left to play for. so even if Leeds and Burnley lose their final two fixtures, and Sheffield United wins both, the Blades can only reach 92 points.
Burnley and Leeds will be formally confirmed as Premier League teams at the Premier League’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) this summer, when they are both issued with a share certificate.
