Chelsea ‘advancing’ in talks to sign Leipzig star Xavi Simons

Chelsea are believed to be in serious negotiations to sign RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, as the FIFA Club World Cup winners continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
The Blues are reported to be in discussions with the player’s representatives about a possible move to Stamford Bridge this summer, with an agreement now nearing between the Dutch international and Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have yet to agree on personal terms with the 22-year-old attacker, which is seen as just a formal step, while the North London club prepares to make a formal approach to the Bundesliga side.

Simons, eager to leave Leipzig after their European qualification miss, is also tracked by Arsenal, while Bayern Munich—long-term admirers—stay informed as they seek attacking options.
The midfielder joined RB Leipzig for an initial €55 million (£47.6m) in January, following a loan stint from Paris Saint-Germain.

Last season, he scored 10 goals and provided 7 assists in 25 Bundesliga starts, earning a spot in the Bundesliga Team of the Season after an outstanding debut campaign in 2023/24.
Leipzig is a selling club, and are willing to sell Simons this summer for a quick profit, though any offers must exceed €65 million (£56 million). However, their acquisition from PSG, which could reach €80 million (£69 million) with add-ons, has yet to trigger those additional payments.
