Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca optimistic Moises Caicedo will be fit for PSG clash

Enzo Maresca is confident Moises Caicedo will be available for selection as Chelsea take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final on Sunday.

The Ecuador international has been instrumental for the Blues, helping them secure Champions League qualification and clinching the Europa Conference League last season.

Asked about the 23-year-old’s fitness ahead of the game, Maresca said: “Moises is such an important player for us. 

“This morning he trained, but he couldn’t take part in the session fully. We hope he can play on Sunday.”

Enzo Maresca’s side are considered the underdog as they prepare to take on Champions League winners PSG, whose impressive form has continued since their first-ever European Cup triumph, impressing in their journey to the final.

Maresca says PSG are the best in Europe, however, the Blues will do their best and win the final.

“We’ll see in two days. For sure they are a top team, the best team in the world,” he added.

“Every game is different. We are going to try our best for a good game.

“I agree with most of the people who say PSG are the best in Europe and the world. They are showing this. We have maximum respect for them. I really enjoy watching them but we are here to do our best and win the final.

“For sure, Paris Saint-Germain, their manager, Luis Enrique, is a reference not only for me but for all of the people who love football.

“At the same time, our style, I think we have shown this season how we want to do things on and off the ball.”
