Chelsea complete deal for Dortmund star Jamie Gittens

Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens for a reported £55 million on Saturday, after months of negotiations.
The England Under-21 winger, long associated with a transfer to Stamford Bridge, has been officially announced as Chelsea’s newest signing following an agreement on a €65 million transfer fee.
Gittens recorded 12 goals and five assists in 49 appearances for Borussia Dortmund last season, and he has now signed a seven-year deal with Chelsea, committing his future to the club until 2032.

The 20-year-old moved to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City’s academy in 2020, amassing a total of 107 first-team appearances for the Bundesliga club.
He played in Borussia Dortmund’s Club World Cup opening match against Fluminense and is now scheduled for a brief rest before fully integrating with his new team.
Gittens has become one of three attacking signings this summer, joining Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Upon his signing, Gittens said: “It feels great. It’s a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea.
“I can’t wait to learn from everyone in the team and to push myself to the max here. It’s an amazing feeling.
Gittens marks Chelsea’s seventh acquisition in this summer transfer window, joining Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, Palmeiras winger Estêvão Willian, Sporting CP midfielder Dario Essugo, Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr, Independiente del Valle prodigy Kendry Páez, and Brighton forward João Pedro.

The 20-year-old is set to take up the role of Chelsea’s starting left winger, despite limited playing time in the latter part of last season, following Jadon Sancho’s return to Manchester United and Mykhailo Mudryk’s continued absence due to a doping suspension.

Noni Madueke has been deployed in an unaccustomed left-wing role over the past few months, though he is more effective on the right. Recently, he has been strongly linked with a potential summer departure, with Arsenal reportedly showing interest.

Chelsea are also prioritizing player departures, with talkSPORT reporting that João Félix is attracting interest from NEOM FC.
Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Lesley Ugochukwu, Armando Broja and Alfie Gilchrist are other players expected to depart.
