Chelsea lead race to sign Lorient starlet Arthur Avom

Chelsea are the favourites to secure the signing of Lorient starlet Arthur Avom ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old has been instrumental in his side’s push for the Ligue 2 title this season, a goal they look well on track to achieve.
Avom has made 32 appearances in what is his first season of senior football, primarily playing as a defensive midfielder.

He has scored two goals and provided five assists, helping Lorient sit at the top of the Ligue 2 table – three points ahead of second-place Paris FC with just two games remaining.
His impressive performances have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, with the Cameroon international drawing comparisons to former Manchester City great Yaya Touré.

Lorient are eager to secure Avom’s future, as his current contract enters its final year.
However, they face a tough battle to keep hold of the young star, with a number of top clubs eyeing his signature.

According to The Sun, Chelsea, West Ham United and Aston Villa are all monitoring the situation.
The three Premier League clubs have all sent scouts to watch Avom this season, with Chelsea currently seen as the frontrunners.
Reports suggest that Avom is open to listening to offers and plans to make a decision on his future later this summer.
If Chelsea sign him, they are reportedly planning to loan him to their sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
Strasbourg, managed by Liam Rosienior, are pushing for European qualification, but West Ham are also ready to offer Avom an immediate place in their senior squad, which could complicate Chelsea’s plans.
