Dreams FC give Kotoko permission to talk to Karim Zito

Zito is set to return to kotoko for a second stint as coach of the club

Dreams FC has given Asante Kotoko permission to speak to their coach, Karim Zito, about filling their vacant managerial post.

This comes after Kotoko parted ways with Prosper Ogum on Monday, a day after a 2-0 loss to Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Complex.

According to reports, Zito is expected to meet with Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) later today to discuss the possibility of taking over as the team’s new coach.

Sources close to the club indicate that Kotoko have made it clear they are ready to appoint Zito as their new coach.

Kotoko’s decision to part ways with Ogum comes after a disappointing run of form, which saw the team drop to fourth place in the league standings with 47 points after 28 games.

Despite delivering the club’s first league title during the 2021/22 season, Ogum could not replicate that success in his second spell.

Karim Zito is a seasoned tactician with an impressive track record. He recently guided Dreams FC to the semi-finals of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup after clinching MTN FA Cup.

Zito is a revered figure in Kotoko history, having been part of the legendary squad that won the CAF Champions League in 1983. He also has experience coaching the club, having been at the helm in the early 2000s.

Given his history with the club, Zito’s potential appointment would be a significant coup for Kotoko. Fans are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the meeting, hoping that Zito’s experience and knowledge of the club will bring a new era of success.

The appointment of Karim Zito as Kotoko’s new coach would mark a new era for the club. With his proven track record and deep understanding of the club’s culture, Zito would be expected to bring a fresh perspective and a winning mentality to the team.
