Federico Chiesa tipped to leave Liverpool amid Serie A return links

Chiesa is thought to be open to a return to Italy amid interest from Napoli

Federico Chiesa is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and return to Italy, with a move back to Serie A increasingly likely.

After a disappointing spell at Anfield, the Reds appear ready to cut their losses on the winger, with Calciomercato reporting that his departure is a near certainty.

Liverpool took a gamble on Chiesa last summer, but the move has not worked out.

Injuries have plagued his career since his breakout performance in Italy’s triumphant Euro 2020 campaign, and his struggles have continued on Merseyside.

Juventus, having lost faith in his long-term fitness, allowed him to leave for a surprisingly low fee of just £12.5million.

However, Chiesa’s fortunes have only worsened at Liverpool, where a combination of fitness setbacks and an inability to impress new manager Arne Slot has limited him to just 11 appearances across all competitions – only 25 minutes of which have come in the Premier League.

Napoli Linked With Summer Move For Chiesa

Napoli have emerged as the most likely destination for the Italian winger.

He is reportedly admired by Antonio Conte, and the Serie A giants need reinforcements after selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain in January.

Napoli have also been linked with Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, but Chiesa is considered a strong alternative.

Chiesa is thought to be open to a return to Italy, though a key factor in any potential move will be his salary.

A permanent transfer would likely require him to take a pay cut, but Liverpool could also be open to a loan deal if a full transfer proves unfeasible.
