Ghana U15 girls clinch CAF African School Football Championship

As champions, the Black Damsels will receive a cash prize of $300,000

Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team, the Black Damsels, have emerged victorious in the 2025 African Schools Football Championship (ASFC) girls’ edition, defeating Uganda 2-0 in the final.

Belinda Kpentey and Daniella Abass scored the goals that sealed the win for the host team at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday.

The Black Damsels’ journey to the championship was marked by a thrilling 3-2 victory over defending champions South Africa in the semifinals, showcasing their determination and skill.

Despite the heavy rains that threatened to disrupt the final match, the team demonstrated their resilience and secured a hard-fought 2-0 win under the guidance of their head coach, Joyce Boatey-Agyei.

The first half of the final match was a closely contested affair, with both teams failing to score. However, the second half saw Ghana step up their attacking game, with Belinda Kpentey opening the scoring after excellent work from Christiana Ashiaku.

Daniella Abass doubled the lead shortly after, making a superb solo run into the box before calmly slotting the ball past the Ugandan goalkeeper.

As champions, the Black Damsels will receive a cash prize of $300,000. The team from South Africa came third after beating Morocco 2-1 to claim the bronze medal.

The victory is not only a evidence to the team’s hard work and dedication but also a promising sign for the future of Ghanaian women’s football.

Ghana will likely look to promote most of the girls to form the National U-17 team in the future, providing them with further opportunities to develop their skills and represent the country on the international stage.
