GPL : Dreams FC secure first win as Samartex hold Medeama

Dreams FC have finally achieved their first victory of the season.

Dreams FC recorded their first win of the season with a convincing 2–0 victory over Nations FC on Saturday, while Medeama were held to a 1–1 draw at home by Samartex at the TNA Park.

The Still Believe lads, who had picked up just one point in their opening five matches, started brightly and took the lead after 20 minutes through Ernest Appiah, who finished off a fine team move to ease the pressure on the hosts.

Despite dominating the first half, Dreams failed to add to their advantage before the break. After the restart, Winfred Dormon’s men continued to press forward, and their persistence paid off when Suraj Seidu doubled the lead with a composed finish.

Nations FC created several chances but found goalkeeper Gidios Aseako in inspired form, denying them any way back.

The victory comes as a huge relief for head coach Winfred Dormon, who had been under pressure following a difficult start to the campaign.

In Tarkwa, Samartex were left frustrated after Medeama snatched a late equalizer to draw 1–1.

Samartex took the lead in the first half through Awuah Dramani, who fired home a superb strike.

Medeama controlled much of the game but could not capitalize on their chances. Their efforts were rewarded when substitute Kingsley Brayie scored in the 89th minute, securing a vital home point.

Despite the setback, Medeama temporarily maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table ahead of the remaining Matchday Six fixtures on Sunday.
