Bibiani Gold Stars are now level with Asante Kotoko with 47 points

The Ghana Premier League matchday 27 was a thrilling affair, with several matches producing exciting results that have shaken up the league table.

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, two of the biggest clubs in Ghanaian football, dropped points, while Bibiani Goldstars registered a crucial victory to level with Kotoko at the top of the table.

In Bibiani, the Goldstars secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Young Apostles at the Duns Park. The decisive moment came just before the halftime whistle when Alex Aso found the back of the net with a composed finish, capitalizing on a lapse in the Apostles’ defense.

His goal proved to be the winner in a game that was more tactical than thrilling. The victory maintains the Miners’ impressive unbeaten home record and moves them to 47 points, level with league leaders Asante Kotoko, who retain top spot due to a superior goal difference.

Hearts of Oak shared the spoils with Vision FC in a pulsating 1-1 draw at the Nii Adjei Okraku II Complex. Kelvin Asibey gave the Phobians the lead, but Adjetey Sowah’s equalizer for Vision FC cancelled out the advantage. The draw means Hearts of Oak drop to fifth place with 41 points from 26 matches.

Asante Kotoko were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium. Darlvin gave the Hunters a surprise lead, but Albert Amoah’s late penalty salvaged a point for the Porcupines.

Despite the draw, Kotoko remain top of the league table with 47 points, but their lead is now precarious.

Other notable results from matchday 27 include Karela United’s 2-0 win over Aduana Stars, thanks to Alhassan Adamu’s brace, and Berekum Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Real Tamale United.

Samartex also secured a 2-0 win over struggling Legon Cities, who are now languishing in 17th place on the log.

Medeama thrashed Dreams FC 4-0 in an earlier match, with Kingsly Braye scoring a hat-trick. Accra Lions came from behind to beat Basake Holy Stars 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
