Guardiola says an FA Cup title win still won’t make Man City’s season great

” We have not been good this season”- Pep says

Pep Guardiola on Man City season FA Cup

Pep Guardiola has revealed that should Manchester City win the FA Cup title this year, it still wouldn’t be enough for him to say his team had a great season.

On Sunday, April, 27, Guardiola led his side to a third straight FA Cup final after beating Nottingham Forest 2-0, and will be taking on Crystal Palace in the final.

Asked about what winning the title would mean for his season, Pep explained that even if his side are crowned champions of the Cup, it still wouldn’t be enough for their season to be considered a great one.

Speaking in his post match presser, Pep said: “Winning it still wouldn’t be a successful season. This season has not been good. We are a thousand million miles of points behind Liverpool. Come on, this season from us has not been good.”

“Look at us in the Champions League.. how many games did we win?.. one?, two?… but always, we used to be a machine in that. We have not been good, but of course, the damage will be minor, but it is not going to confuse the fact that qualifying for the Champions League or winning the FA Cup against Crystal Palace makes it any better”, he added.

Prior to this campaign, City won the Premier League four years on the bounce and clinched a treble of titles in 2023. Guardiola will be aiming to come back strong with his team next season, hoping to reclaim the league title with sheer dominance.
