After the restart, Hamza Issah doubled the lead with a fine finish to put Hearts in control of the game. The visitors dominated proceedings and nearly added a third, but the hosts held firm in defence.
Basake Holy Stars pulled one back from the spot through Issah Yakubu, setting up a tense finish.
Despite late pressure from the home side, Hearts stood their ground to secure all three points.
The victory marks Hearts of Oak’s third away win of the season and lifts them to fourth on the league table ahead of the much-anticipated Super Clash against Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak will be hoping to improve on their home form after winning just one of their first four games at the Accra Sports Stadium.
