Hohoe United stun Asante Kotoko with 1-0 win

Asante Kotoko suffered their second defeat of the season after a 1-0 loss to Hohoe United on Sunday.
A first half free kick from William Oduro handed Hohoe a historic win over the Ghanaian giant.

Hohoe United, after beating Bechem United away from home, were in a confident mood coming to the game as coach Bashiru named a strong starting line-up.
For Kotoko, after that disappointing draw against Medeama, they came all out for the three points.
But injuries meant Karim Zito was forced to make a number of changes to his starting line-up.
Lord Amoah’s suspension, with injury to Kwame Poku and Hilary Adabo, means Hamzata starts from the right back with Baba Yahaya, and returnee Seth Kwadwo also starts.
It was Hohoe who started the game very well taking the game to the Porcupines.
Kotoko got three yellow cards under 15 minutes with Hamzata, Samb, and Seth Kwadwo all getting to the referee’s books 📚.
Hohoe United took the lead in the 25th minute through William Oduro, the player converted a nice free kick to give the host a deserved lead.
It could have been two minutes later, but Sena Ati blasted his effort wide.
It was a dominant first half from the host as the Porcupine struggled to find their feet.
After the break, Kotoko lifted their performance chasing the equalizer.
Hubert Gyau saw his effort saved by the host goalkeeper.
Hohoe United William Oduro was a thorn in the flesh of Kotoko as they struggled to deal with him.
The chances were scanty as both teams defended well.
Asante Kotoko nearly got the equalizer, but Peter Amidu’s effort went wide.
Despite late pressure from Kotoko and six minutes of additional time, Hohoe United defended very well to snatch the maximum points.
