Igor Tudor to leave Spurs on mutual consent

Tottenham Hotspur and interim manager Igor Tudor have decided to go their separate ways on mutual agreement, after a series of consistently dismal performances by the team.

Former Juventus player and manager Igor Tudor was confirmed as interim head coach on February 13, 2026, following the sacking of Thomas Frank, to lead the team until the end of the 2025/26 season, arriving with the club in 16th place in the Premier League.

The Croatian manager arrived at north London with hope, poised to diminish the frightening despair left amongst the fans by Thomas Frank, but things have gotten even worse.

Spurs failed to win any of their first six games in the Premier League under Tudor, recording a sharp decline in their fortunes with 3.5 goals conceded per game.

A 3-2 win against La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League signalled a positive statement for both the manager and the fans, but it was too late. Having already lost the first leg by 5-2, a fourth night at the Wanda Metropolitano, in the Spanish Capital.

Tudor was given the awful news that his father, Mario, had died shortly after the club’s dismal 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at home before the international break, and the manager has now decided to leave his post 44 days in, by mutual consent..

Adi Hutter and Chris Hughton have been linked with taking an interim role once again until the end of the season, with just seven games left to save Spurs’ Premier League status

Other reports indicate that Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino remain the leading candidates to take the job permanently in the summer, but that could all depend on which division Tottenham find themselves in.

In a club statement, it said: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for Head Coach Igor Tudor to leave the Club with immediate effect.

“Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of Goalkeeping Coach and Physical Coach. We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly.

“We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.

“An update on a new Head Coach will be provided in due course.”

Pochettino would be a hugely popular and emotional choice, having enjoyed a highly successful five-year spell at Tottenham between 2014 and 2019, during which the club twice challenged for the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final.

Tudor becomes the 9th successive manager to be relieved of his duties at Spurs since Pochettino’s departure in November 2019.

Spurs will be looking to hire their third manager of the season, with former Monaco boss Adi Hutter expected to replace.

Tottenham travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland once the Premier League resumes, before a home clash with Brighton.

The north London outfit still have to face Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds, Chelsea, and Everton before the end of the season.

They are currently in 17th place in the table, just one point above West Ham in the relegation zone.
