Jack Grealish’s Man City future in doubt after final day omission

The 29-year-old has struggled throughout the campaign

Jack Grealish’s long-term future at Manchester City appears increasingly uncertain after he was omitted from the squad for the final Premier League game of the season.

The 29-year-old has struggled throughout the campaign and has found it difficult to convince manager Pep Guardiola that he deserves regular playing time.

Grealish has started just seven league games this season, with only one appearance as a starter in 2025.

Across all competitions, he has contributed three goals and five assists in 32 appearances, but has become increasingly marginalised.

Guardiola has shown a clear preference for players such as Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, and Omar Marmoush on the left wing.

The England international was an unused substitute during Man City’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final and has been linked with a summer transfer.

This speculation intensified after The Telegraph reported that Grealish was left out of the squad for Sunday’s clash against Fulham.

Following the season, Grealish is expected to hold talks with Manchester City’s directors of football, Txiki Begiristain and Hugo Viana.

Despite having two years remaining on his contract, a transfer now seems a distinct possibility, with the current situation deemed untenable.

Guardiola’s position on the £100million signing was made particularly clear when he chose to bring on 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri instead of Grealish during the Wembley fixture.

“We didn’t talk, I didn’t talk with him,” the City boss explained afterwards.

“I’m saying these things, and people don’t believe me, but it belongs to the agents and the club and Txiki, in this case, and Hugo as well. Both will decide.

“What is going to happen will happen, but we are going to start to play again, but of course he has to come back to play minutes to start to play again.”
