Kotoko captain Samba O’niel eyes revenge against GoldStars

Asante Kotoko lost all three of their matches in the recently concluded GHALCA Top Four tournament.

Asante Kotoko’s captain, Samba O’Neil, says his team will aim for revenge ahead of their Champion of Champions showdown against Gold Stars on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The Porcupine Warriors make the journey to the home of the Premier League champions in the highly-anticipated Super Cup match.

Gold Stars defeated Kotoko 2-1 enroute to their GHALCA Top 4 tournament triumph at the University of Ghana.

Kotoko captain and defender Samba O’Neil acknowledges the challenge but is confident that the Premier League record holders will defeat Gold Stars at Duns Park in Bibiani.

“It’s going to be very very difficult, as you know, but we are getting ready for the challenge. We are coming all out for it, so we are going to take it. They scored us in the top 4, so we are coming back for revenge.” Samba O’Neil told the GFA Media.

The Champion of Champions is a curtain-raiser for the 2025-26 Premier League season, which kick start on Friday September 12.

Asante Kotoko won the FA Cup after defeating Golden Kicks on penalties, while Bibiani Goldstars made history by securing the Ghana Premier League title for the first time.
