Lalas Abubakar scores first goal for FC Dallas in victory over Portland Timbers

Ghanaian centre-back Lalas Abubakar opened his goal account for FC Dallas in their 2-0 home win over Portland Timbers in the Major League Soccer on Saturday evening.
The 29-year-old defender played the full match and was rock-solid at the back, helping his side secure a clean sheet in the comfortable victory.

Dallas took the lead in the 8th minute when Croatian forward Petar Musa capitalised on an error from the Timbers goalkeeper, who failed to deal with a long pass from Abubakar.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Dallas could not extend their lead before halftime.
After the break, the hosts continued their pressure and were rewarded in the 61st minute. Abubakar rose highest in the box to head home from a Sebastien Lletget corner, sealing the win for Dallas.
The Ghanaian’s performance earned him the Man of the Match award, having contributed both defensively and offensively.
Abubakar has now made 20 league appearances this season, delivering consistent displays for the club he joined in January 2025 from Colorado Rapids, where he spent five years.
The win moves Dallas to 12th in the Western Conference with 28 points, just two shy of the playoff spots. They will aim to build on this momentum when they face Austin FC on Matchday 27.
