Inter Miami began their 2025 campaign in impressive fashion
Lionel Messi urges unity amid Inter Miami’s struggles

Lionel Messi has spoken out about the “bad results” that have left Inter Miami needing to become “more united” during what he describes as a “complicated” run of form.
The Herons began their 2025 campaign in impressive fashion, going unbeaten across early fixtures in both Major League Soccer and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
However, their form has since taken a sharp downturn, with one path to major silverware already closed off and five defeats suffered in their last seven matches.

Inter Miami’s most recent setback came in a heavy 3-0 derby loss to in-state rivals Orlando City.
Javier Mascherano’s side have not recorded a win since May 3, with optimism proving elusive, even with global stars like Messi, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets in the squad.
Messi told Apple TV: “[We need to] keep going. It’s a complicated time. But we’ll all stay united.
“We’re a team in difficult times, because when everyone wins, it’s easy, but now that difficult times are coming, that’s when we have to be more united than ever, be a true team, and move forward, because we have what it takes. Think about what’s next and prepare for the next game.”
Messi added that Inter Miami are aiming to rediscover their spark ahead of a major FIFA tournament this summer.
He said: “We’re coming off a period of bad results. But we have to keep working and think about what’s next.
“With three or four games left in May, we [have to] finish the best possible way to be able to face the Club World Cup.”
