Liverpool forward Luis Diaz not for sale amid Saudi and Barcelona links

Diaz played an instrumental role for Arne Slot’s side as they secured a record-equalling 20th league title

Liverpool are not ready to part ways with Luis Diaz amid interest from the Saudi Pro League and Barcelona, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Diaz played an instrumental role for Arne Slot’s side as they secured a record-equalling 20th league title.

The Colombia international racked up 50 appearances, scored 17 goals, and provided assists last season, featuring in an unfamiliar No.9 position.

The report claims that “Saudi club Al-Nassr are interested in the former Porto winger but no approach has been made so far and Liverpool are not encouraging any overtures for a player who Arne Slot views as important to his long-term plans.”

Diaz is top of Barca’s wish list as the La Liga champions look to strengthen their squad for next season.

It is believed that Hansi Flick’s side have already held talks with the 28-year-old, who is also attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League clubs.

Diaz, who joined Liverpool from Porto in 2022, has just two years left on his contract, and talks over a new deal have yet to progress.

Speaking to Telemundo last month regarding his contract, he said: “Since the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team.

“We’ll be talking about [renewing], we’ll talk about it. For me, I’d stay however many years it takes. It also depends on the club, everything.

“These are details that are worked out separately. But I’m very calm, happy and enjoying the Premier League.”

Liverpool Echo further disclosed that “no talks are planned as things stand to renew the terms of a player who joined for a fee worth up to £50m from Porto in January 2022, but the Reds are relaxed about the situation.”
