The report adds that Frankfurt have yet to receive a formal offer for Ekitike, with the club maintaining a €100million (£84m) asking price.

Plettenberg posted on X: “The next big target from the Bundesliga: Understand FC Liverpool are now seriously in the race for Hugo #Ekitike!
“Talks have taken place. Slot/Edwards keen on him. The biggest rival at the moment: Chelsea.
“Eintracht Frankfurt have not yet received an offer. Markus Krösche still demand €100 million.”
Ekitike enjoyed a successful 2024/25 season in Germany, scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

His contributions were instrumental in helping Frankfurt finish third in the Bundesliga and secure a Champions League spot.
Both manager Arne Slot and CEO Michael Edwards are reportedly admirers of the former Paris Saint-Germain striker.
However, Liverpool face strong competition from Chelsea, who are also in the market for a quality No.9.
While talks over Ekitike’s potential move continue, the Premier League champions are prioritising the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
The German midfielder has already agreed personal terms, and now the focus shifts to Leverkusen reaching a deal with the Reds.
