Liverpool trigger Jeremie Frimpong’s release clause

According to reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have triggered Jeremie Frimpong’s release clause of €35m, with Bayer Leverkusen being made aware.
Fabrizio adds that an agreement has been completed for the Dutch right-wing-back who is expected to sign a five-year contract at Anfield, with the medical being scheduled.
Liverpool were thought to be advanced in negotiations to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday, with growing confidence from the player’s camp that a deal to bring him to Anfield will be completed, according to The Athletic.

The 24-year-old, who has a release clause of €35m (£29.6m), was said to be eager on a move to Anfield, with Liverpool bosses considering the move financially attractive.

Despite Liverpool’s eagerness to seal a deal for the former Manchester City academy product, the player was also expecting the situation to be resolved swiftly after the conclusion of the Bundesliga season on Saturday.

The Dutch international has emerged as one of the most sought-after full-backs in Europe, having played a starring role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten Bundesliga title-winning campaign last season.
In one of the most memorable times in his career at Germany, Frimpong recorded 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions in that campaign.
