Man City advance talks for Antoine Semenyo as Man United lurk

Manchester City have moved ahead of fellow Premier League rivals, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, to hold talks with Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo over a potential January move.
According to talkSPORT, City are interested in triggering Semenyo’s reported release clause of £65 million in January.
Just days ago, Man United looked to have reignited their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo amid growing rival interest in the Bournemouth star—but City have now stolen a march, advancing to direct talks.

Since last month, the Bournemouth star has become a strong target for Premier League giants, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur, who are looking to make a move for the Ghanaian in January.
The 25-year-old sparked a three-way bidding war, following a bright start to the 2025/26 season, although the forward signed a new five-year contract extension in the summer.
The Ghanaian international recorded 11 goals for Andoni Iraola’s side last year, marking a significant season for the former Bristol City forward.

talkSPORT further adds that Arsenal are open to a move if they offload a winger next month, although the Gunners are expecting a quiet transfer window.
City have moved ahead of the pack on their City rivals, United, and other top-flight Premier League giants by opening talks with Semenyo two weeks before the winter window opens.
Pep Guardiola is currently without key wing options, such as, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb, who remain sidelined through injury, while Omar Marmoush is away on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Semenyo will be available throughout the new year after Ghana disappointingly failed to qualify for AFCON.
Semenyo returned to the scoresheet in the recent 4-4 draw with Manchester United, ending his eight-game goal drought in all competitions.
He signed a new five-year deal with Bournemouth earlier this year and is thought to be focused on playing a major role in Bournemouth’s current campaign despite non-stop speculation.
It will be interesting to know how this revelation unfolds in the coming days, following all the links surrounding the Ghanaian forward’s future with the Cherries.
