Man City join Liverpool in race for £45m-rated Milos Kerkez

The Hungary international has long been considered Liverpool’s top target

Manchester City have entered the race to sign Bournemouth’s £45million-rated left-back Milos Kerkez, potentially setting up a transfer battle with long-time suitors Liverpool.

The Hungary international has long been considered Liverpool’s top target as a potential successor to the experienced Andy Robertson.

According to The i Paper, City have recently made enquiries, positioning themselves as genuine rivals for Kerkez’s signature.

Kerkez is a key target for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, and there have been several discussions between the club and the player’s representatives in recent weeks.

While the player is reportedly keen on a move to Anfield, Liverpool have yet to submit an official offer.

This hesitation has opened the door for Man City, who are also planning a significant squad overhaul this summer.

City are actively seeking a specialist left-back after shifting Josko Gvardiol into a more central role.

New Man City director of football Hugo Viana is understood to be a strong admirer of Kerkez’s talents.

Bournemouth have valued Kerkez at £45million and are expected to hold firm on their price given the growing interest.

The player’s contract runs until 2028 and contains no release clause, giving the Cherries leverage as they plan their own recruitment strategy to support head coach Andoni Iraola.

Liverpool and Man City appear set to compete for several of the same transfer targets this summer. However, the Reds are also pursuing other options at left-back.

The Premier League champions are tracking Ajax’s versatile 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato – a move that could influence their approach to Kerkez’s transfer.
