Man City open to offers for John Stones amid injury concerns

Pep Guardiola no longer views Stones as part of his long-term plans

Manchester City are prepared to listen to offers for John Stones ahead of the summer transfer window, with the defender’s future at the Etihad increasingly uncertain.

Pep Guardiola no longer views the 30-year-old as part of his long-term plans.

Stones has made just 13 starts across all competitions this season, missing 30 games for both club and country due to a series of injuries.

The news follows comments from football insider Mick Brown in March, who revealed that City are willing to let Stones go amid concerns over his injury record.

Several Premier League clubs are understood to be monitoring the situation, with potential suitors ready to act should the green light be given.

In light of Stones’ uncertain future, City are already exploring potential replacements.

The swift signing of Abdukodir Khusanov in January was part of the club’s efforts to bolster their defensive options.

Brown, who previously worked as a chief scout for Manchester United and Blackburn, disclosed in February that City are planning to make five new signings in the upcoming transfer window, with Stones one of the players earmarked for replacement.

He also noted that efforts to replace the defender have been ongoing.

“Man City will look to move Stones on,” he told Football Insider.

“They went and got Khusanov in the January transfer window because they’re already putting plans in place to replace Stones.

“They may go and get another defender if he leaves, because they don’t want to weaken the squad.

“Stones was, and is when he’s fit, a very very good player – but how often is he fit at the moment?

“So I think if somebody wants to make a move for him this summer, City will listen to them.
