Manchester United have completed the signing of RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko for a reported fee totalling £74 million.

Benjamin Sesko was expected to undergo his Manchester United medical ahead of completing his transfer from RB Leipzig, according to Sky Sports.

The Red Devils had agreed a deal in principle with Leipzig to sign Sesko, with the player expected to sign a five-year contract, and the club paying an initial £66.3 million (€76.5m) plus £7.37 million (€8.5m) in performance-related add-ons.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Sesko has officially completed his move to United and is now at Carrington for the opening of the first-team training center, with his unveiling scheduled at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 22-year-old is poised to overtake Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee as United’s new first-choice centre forward once his transfer is officially announced by the club.

The Slovenian international was also considered for a move to Newcastle United; however, he opted for United, despite being offered a lower wage package by Ruben Amorim’s side.

He netted 39 goals and provided eight assists in 87 appearances for Leipzig. His move makes him United’s seventh-most expensive signing of all time with an initial €76.5 million transfer fee.

Sesko has become Man United’s fourth signing of the 2025 summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Diego Leon for a combined price of €153.2 million.

United were initially keen to sign Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap this summer, driven by Ruben Amorim’s pursuit of a new striker, but the former chose Arsenal while the latter joined Chelsea in June.

After shifting focus to Sesko in early August, the Red Devils swiftly finalized a deal for the Leipzig star ahead of fellow suitors Newcastle, and he could be poised to make his competitive debut for the club in their opening 2025/26 Premier League match against Arsenal on August 17.
