Manchester United have completed the signing of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.

A club statement read: “Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha.

“The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration.

“Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford.”

He initially joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in January 2023. After helping the club retain their Premier League status, he truly came into his own during the 2023/24 season.

The 26-year-old scored a memorable goal in Wolves’ Emirates FA Cup victory over rivals West Bromwich Albion in January 2024, and just a week later, he secured only Wolves’ second-ever Premier League hat-trick in a stunning win at Chelsea.

Last season, Cunha finished as the club’s top scorer with 17 goals, six of which were nominated for Goal of the Season.

Having played a key role in securing Wolves’ eighth consecutive season in the Premier League, Cunha featured in his final game for the club against Brentford last Sunday before making his departure.

The Red Devils are poised to strip Marcus Rashford of the iconic No.10 shirt to hand it to Cunha.

Rashford, who has worn the number since 2018, is expected to lose the shirt after being made available for transfer.

The England international appears to have no future under Ruben Amorim, who authorised Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa in January.
