Man United earmark Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic as striker option

Manchester United are in search of a clinical frontman this summer, following a disappointing campaign characterized by a severe lack of goals in the attacking department.

As such, Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic has been earmarked for a potential £20 million summer move for the Red Devils, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

United’s available forwards, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, have both failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League this season.

The pair could only manage four and three goals combined for the Red Devils in the league as they had to settle for a 15th-placed finish in the top-flight – their worst in the competition’s history in 39 years.

The dismal performance by United’s forwards has prompted Ruben Amorim and club chief Jason Wilcox to bring in a striker in the early weeks of the campaign.

Despite signing Matheus Cunha, who can fill in as a striker although primarily being a No. 10, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star is not viewed as an out-and-out striker -calling for more firepower.

Vlahovic scored 10 goals in 29 appearances for Juventus in the 2024/25 season.

The Serbian have constantly been linked with a move away from the Serie A giants for some time now. But now, looks more likely to consider his future away from Italy with his contract set to expire in June 2026.

And that could see them land the “world-class” Vlahovic, with Bailey informing United in Focus that the Serbian has crept onto their radar due to the fact that he could be available for as little as £20 million in the coming months.

Bailey, to United in Focus, said: “I am told Amorim and Wilcox have a good relationship, Wilcox played a role in bringing him in – there is a trust there.

“As we know the push for Liam Delap, caused a divide, not everyone agreed but Wilcox is aiming to get this striker decision right.

“Amorim wants that integral figure to lead the line and Wilcox wants to deliver that. Amorim’s former charge Viktor Gyokeres is on their radar and talks have been held, as they have been for Victor Osimhen too – who has turned down Saudi Arabia, as he is keen on England.

“I am also told not to discount Dusan Vlahovic – the appeal of him is that he could move for just £20million this summer.”

Amorim’s side failed to secure the signature of Liam Delap, with the Ipswich striker joining Chelsea for £30 million earlier this month, pushing pressure on the Red Devils to now turn their attention elsewhere from the England international.

The Old Trafford faithful will now turn their attention to other available strikers – including links to both Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen from Sporting and Napoli, respectively.

Vlahovic, 25, who is on a reported £315,000-per-week, has 43 Serie A goals in just three-and-a-half seasons, registering double figures in each season since the 2020/21 campaign.

At such a cheap price, he could be the missing piece of the jigsaw for United whilst also using the remaining cash to strengthen elsewhere.
