Man United eye Antoine Semenyo as alternative to Bryan Mbeumo

Strengthening the attacking options appears to be a priority for Man United boss Ruben Amorim

Manchester United will switch their attention to signing Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo if they fail to secure a deal for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbuemo, according to ESPN.

The report claims that Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace has also been added to the shortlist as Man United look to bounce back from their worst domestic season for more than 50 years.

It was reported that Semenyo has already held initial talks with United officials ahead of a possible switch to Old Trafford this summer.

The 25-year-old, who is reportedly valued at around £70million by Bournemouth, enjoyed a strong campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in the league.

In total, he racked up 42 appearances, netted 13 times, and registered seven assists for the Cherries across all competitions.

The Ghana international’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with several top-flight clubs monitoring his situation.

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal have all been linked with the pacey winger, meaning United could face stiff competition for his signature.

Despite the growing interest, Semenyo only signed a new long-term contract with Bournemouth last season, keeping him at the club until 2029.

Man United have already completed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on a long-term deal.

“It is the most common phrase that you can say at this moment, but this is the dream come true,” Cunha said in his signing interview.

“Maybe outside, I think maybe my decision, they don’t understand. But when you have always dreamed to play here, it’s easier to pick this decision.

“For me, no-one else is like United. Of course, I know it’s been a hard season for everyone. I think my decision shows what this club is for me, and what I believe this club can be.”
