Marseille forward Mason Greenwood, Roberto De Zerbi, and others have been under serious scrutiny for the club’s current poor performances while also being pushed to “give back their salaries”.

Mason Greenwood and Roberto De Zerbi have been at the center of intense criticism at Marseille after a poor showing over the weekend after they were hammered 3-0 against AS Monaco.

French international Christophe Dugarry, on RMC Sport, has thrown a jibe at the Marseille players, accusing them of having “twisted feet” and calling on the players to hand back their wages.

De Zerbi also received his fair share of a barrage of slating from former Poland international Damien Perquis, who questioned whether Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi still had the respect of his squad.

Dugarry said: “The first half hour was a purge. They have twisted feet. Give back the salary, give back the money. Go buy yourselves some feet.”

Perquis added: “In terms of results, Olympique de Marseille are behind. We also need to know whether the coach still has his squad with him or not. And on this point, I think De Zerbi doesn’t, unlike Lyon and Lille.”

Greenwood and his teammates are in a cagey contest for the Champions League qualification race in Ligue 1, despite Saturday’s defeat that saw De Zerbi’s side fall to third.

Marseille are just three points away from Monaco in second and Strasbourg in sixth, with Lyon and Lille also pushing for a spot in Europe’s top competition.

The weekend loss will mean that Marseille have lost four of their last five league games – posing a big threat on their Champions League qualification credentials.

Greenwood has scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists in 29 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.
