Milan’s Sporting Director Search: Two new candidates emerge

AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has stepped up his charge in finding a new sporting director for the Italian giants. Initially, the search seemed to be a two-man race between Fabio Paratici and Igli Tare. In the coming days, Furlani meets with Thiago Scuro and Markus Krosche, two experienced executives with impressive track records on the Sporting Director role.

Scuro and Krosche both have a background working under the Red Bull umbrella before branching out on their own. Scuro, currently at Monaco, helped his side return to the Champions League by bringing in young talent. Krosche, on the other hand, has been instrumental in Eintracht Frankfurt’s success, including their Europa League win in his first year. Both candidates bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, making them strong contenders for the role.

The search for a new sporting director is expected to take longer than initially anticipated. Milan had initially considered Andrea Berta, but he has since committed to joining Arsenal. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the governor and consultant, held initial talks with candidates, but Furlani has now taken on a central role in the process. Other candidates, such as Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico, may still emerge during the search.

The timing of the appointment may depend on the chosen candidate’s current contractual situation. If Milan decides to hire someone currently under contract, they may need to wait until the summer to finalize the hiring. This would give the new sporting director a clean slate to start building for the next season.
