Newcastle boss Eddie Howe returns to work after hospital stay

Newcastle United have confirmed that manager Eddie Howe has returned to work after being hospitalised with pneumonia.
Howe was admitted to the hospital two Fridays ago, causing him to miss three matches. In his absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall took charge of the team.
Under Tindall’s guidance, Newcastle secured back-to-back home wins against Manchester United and Crystal Palace, before suffering a defeat away to Aston Villa last weekend.

When asked for an update on Howe following the match against Villa, Tindall said:“Until I’m told otherwise, then obviously that (taking charge of the team) is my duty and what I have to do.
“I’ve said it before, the most important thing for Ed is that he rests and he recovers. The more he does that, then the sooner he’ll be able to come and lead the team again.
“I’m not sure if there is any contact there, but as soon as there is any more news, then I’m sure the media team will update on that.”
The Magpies are currently fifth in the Premier League – the final Champions League qualification spot – with five games left to play. They host Ipswich Town at St James’ Park on Saturday.

“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s training centre,” a club statement read.
“Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes.”
A win against struggling Ipswich, who are set to be relegated this weekend, would lift Howe’s side back above Nottingham Forest and Manchester City.
Both teams are not in league action this weekend, as they meet in the FA Cup semi-finals.
