Nottingham Forest sack Sean Dyche

Nottingham Forest have sacked Sean Dyche, their third head coach of the season, following a series of poor performances, the latest being their 0-0 stalemate at the City Grounds against a struggling Wolves side in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Head coach Sean Dyche’s side have failed to record a win in their last three Premier League games, and the football has not been pretty to watch – with little hope of leading the once-formidable team to where owner Evangelos Marinakis expects it to be.

The English manager lasted just 114 days in the dugout, becoming the third manager to be sacked, following former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo, who had a public exchange with the owner Marinakis, which went viral.

Forest recorded 35 shots on goal against relegation-bound Wolves, but agonisingly failed to hit the back of the net. Recording the most shots by any of Dyche’s teams in a single Premier League game.

It was also the most by any side in the top-flight this year, although seven were from full-back Neco Williams. However, only ten shots were on target. That couldn’t save him from the owner’s wrath while watching from his seat.

Forest is languishing just three points above the drop zone, with Dyche’s side only managing to record 18 points out of 22 games. However, the 54-year-old guided Forest into the Europa League play-off round, where they will face Fenerbahce over two legs, with the first game in Istanbul next week.

A Club statement read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.

“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”
