Police Ladies bounce back with 3-1 win over Sam Nelly in WAFU B Qualifiers

Ghanaian champions Police Ladies FC put up a commanding performance on Wednesday evening, defeating Benin’s Sam Nelly 3-1 in their second group match at the WAFU B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
After narrowly losing 2–1 to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in their opening fixture, the Ghanaian side came into this encounter determined to revive their qualification hopes.

At the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Police Ladies quickly took control of the game and dominated their opponents from start to finish.
Grace Animah opened the scoring from the spot just nine minutes into the game before Sarah Nyarko doubled the lead with a fine strike inside the penalty area.
After the break, Deborah Afriyie added a third to give the Ghanaians a comfortable cushion. Sam Nelly managed a late consolation, but Police Ladies held on firmly to secure their first victory of the tournament.
The win sets up a crucial clash against ASKO of Togo in their next group game.
Sarah Nyarko’s outstanding display earned her the Player of the Match award.

In the other fixture of the group, Bayelsa Queens eased past ASKO with a 3-0 win.
