Real Betis hold talks over signing Man United forward Antony

Real Betis have held initial talks about signing Antony from Manchester United this summer, according to ABC Sevilla.
The online news portal claims that a co-ownership agreement was proposed that would see Betis buy a percentage of Antony’s rights, with United standing to benefit from a high sell-on clause that would be triggered by any future sale.

Antony joined the La Liga side in January on loan and flourished, proving his worth after a difficult time at United.
Once labelled one of the worst signings in English football history, the Brazilian showed signs of redemption and has attracted interest from several clubs seeking to make his move permanent, including Betis and Atletico Madrid.
The 25-year-old contributed nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances for Betis across all competitions.

Former Real Madrid star Isco joked that Betis may need to “crowdfund” to keep the Brazilian.
Isco told DAZN after Real Betis’ 2-1 victory over Sevilla: “We need to crowdfund to see if we can bring him back for another year.
“He’s surprised us all with his humility and his desire to help.”
Antony enjoyed his time at Betis and reflected on rekindling the spark that had started to fade during his spell in England.
The ex-Ajax forward said: “I feel happier and more content when I found myself, and I found myself here.
“I’m very grateful for everyone’s affection, for the players… I’m very happy here, my focus is on Betis, I’m enjoying the city, the club, and everything every day, and I’m very happy.”
