Real Betis poised to make new bid for Man united outcast

Real Betis intend to extend Antony’s loan beyond the summer

Real Betis are reportedly considering making a new bid for Manchester United outcast Antony after seeing their first bid turned down.

Antony is set to stay at Betis, as the La Liga side line up a new bid to keep the Utd winger, after having the offer to extend his loan move beyond summer rejected by the Red Devils.

Antony moved to Betis on a six-month loan deal from United after the Brazilian lost his spot in Ruben Amorim’s line-up this season.

The 25-year-old has been enjoying his football once again at the Benito Villamarin under Manuel Pellegrini, contributing nine goals in 18 games with the Verdiblancos.

Earlier, United had turned down Betis’ first bid for Antony earlier this week as they looked to sign the Brazilian on a season-long loan deal, and are rather keen on selling their winger as they look to recoup £30m from the £80.3m spent to acquire his services from Ajax in August 2022.

Antony’s transfer was second behind Paul Pogba as United’s most expensive player.

At the time, it was the fourth-highest transfer fee paid by a Premier League club.

Since joining Betis on loan in January, the winger has contributed to nine goal involvements in 18 appearances across all competitions

The Telegraph has now reported that Real Betis are looking to make a new bid for Antony before the end of the season.

Despite a first bid being rejected, Pellegrini’s men are certain to keep the Brazilian winger, making sure he does not join any other club this summer.

The Seville club currently pays 84 per cent of Antony’s salary, including bonuses, and is prepared to offer new terms that would see them again cover the bulk of his wages.

Amorim and United have no intentions of keeping Antony at the club this summer as they are looking to recoup as much of the huge money spent to help them make a move for their summer targets.

Recently, United have been linked with key forwards like Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap, or Ademola Lookman who could potentially boost their squad for the next campaign.
