Luis Garcia Plaza has been tipped to replace Matias Almeyda following his sacking by Sevilla.

Sevilla Football Club has sacked their manager, Matias Almeyda, following their 2-0 defeat to Valencia over the weekend.
Matias Almeyda, who was appointed by the La Liga club on 16 June 2025, has since failed to improve Sevilla’s fortunes, with the club languishing in 15th place in the table with 31 points from 29 matches, three points above the relegation zone.
The 51-year-old Argentinian former player signed a three-year contract, returning to the club after managing the Greek side AEK Athens.

The club has since released an official statement after parting ways with the Argentine manager, who left the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium after 32 games across all competitions.
“Matias Almeyda has been sacked as manager of Sevilla FC. The Argentine manager leaves the Ramón SĆ”nchez-PizjuĆ”n stadium after leading the team in 32 competitive matches ā 29 in La Liga and 3 in the Copa del Rey ā since joining the Nervión-based club in the summer of 2015. Sevilla FC would like to thank Matias Almeyda and his staff for their work over the past few months and wishes him the best of luck in his future career.”
