The transfer, reportedly worth €2.5 million plus add-ons, ties Djiku to the Moscow-based club until 2027. Spartak announced the move on their official social media channels, welcoming the experienced defender ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Motivated by his ambition to secure regular playing time and strengthen his case for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Djiku opted for Spartak despite interest from several Ligue 1 clubs, including Lille, Nice, and Toulouse. Fenerbahçe ultimately accepted the Russian side’s bid.
Born in Montpellier, Djiku is expected to complete his medical and be officially unveiled after the ongoing international break. He remains an integral figure for the Ghana national team, recently underlining his importance by scoring in the Black Stars’ crucial qualifying win over Mali.
Djiku’s career has seen him feature in both France and Turkey before this latest move to Russia.
At Fenerbahçe, he made 51 Turkish Super Lig appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists. Across all competitions, he featured 75 times, netting four goals and adding two assists.
Since making his Ghana debut in 2020, Djiku has been a reliable presence in defence, amassing 34 caps and three goals for the Black Stars.
