Chelsea’s stadium plans have been at the center of discussion since the arrival of Todd Boehly and majority owners Clearlake Capital. Todd Boehly hints Chelsea owners could split if they disagree over stadium plan

The American-led bosses are still in limbo on whether to leave Stamford Bridge, possibly move to Earls Court, or expand.

Todd Boehly indicated that a three-option is still being considered – citing instances of limited space in London to bring their ideas into reality.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Boehly hinted at Chelsea’s stadium redevelopment and the consequences it is expected to bring – whether to stay in partnership with majority owners Clearlake Capital.

“We have a big stadium to development opportunity that we have to flush out.

That’s going to be where we’re either aligned or we ultimately decide to go different ways,” Boehly said.

Chelsea have been at their home grounds Stamford Bridge since 1877. The name originates from the nearby Stamford Bridge Road and has since gone through various stages of renovation.

It has a capacity of just 40,341, making it the 11th-largest football stadium in England – it raises an eyebrow over their status as a top club in recent times – indicating a vast gap in income generation compared to other top clubs in the Premier League.

Chelsea currently sits in 4th position on the Premier League table, with nine games to go as they hope to qualify for Champions League football for the first time under the new ownership.
