Crystal Palace rejected a £50 million bid for Jean-Philippe Mateta from a Champions League club this summer
Tottenham explored signing Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta

Tottenham Hotspur bolstered their attack with impressive signings in the recent transfer window, while also making a late enquiry for Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta, as reported by Sky Sports News.
Palace had several players in their first team squad, such as Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, and defender Daniel Munoz, among others, who were in high demand from top Premier League outfits in the summer transfer window.
Sky Sports indicates that Palace rejected bids of up to £50 million for Mateta from Champions League clubs earlier this summer.
Tottenham reportedly made a late enquiry but did not submit a formal offer before securing Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain on Deadline Day.

However, the Eagles could fend off interest for captain Guehi, Munoz, and Mateta, who attracted a lot of interest from rival clubs before the window closed on Monday.
Eze, meanwhile, joined Arsenal in a club-record £67.5 million transfer, comprising a guaranteed £60 million and £7.5 million in potential add-ons. The deal, finalized last month, saw the Gunners outsmart Spurs to secure the English international.
Liverpool’s late bid for Guehi collapsed due to the deal’s timing and reported concerns from manager Oliver Glasner, who threatened to depart Palace, the reigning FA Cup champions, if the 27-year-old defender was sold.

Aside from the Premier League clubs, Italian Serie A giants Juventus, AC Milan, and Atalanta were also monitoring the situation of the French striker.
Mateta joined Palace in January 2021 from Mainz, on an initial loan, in a deal worth about £15 million, and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best No. 9s in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old, with two years remaining on his contract, has been instrumental in Palace’s recent triumphs, scoring crucial goals that secured the Community Shield, the FA Cup, and the club’s historic first qualification for European competition..
