Despite both teams struggling in the Premier League, Postecoglou emphasised that reaching the final is a significant achievement and shouldn’t be diminished by their league form.

“I couldn’t care less who’s struggling and who’s not. I think both us and United have earned the right to be there”, Postecoglou said.

The debate was sparked by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s comments suggesting it would be wrong for Europa League winners to enter the Champions League.

Postecoglou hit back, saying, “The latest one is that neither of us will be able to get a trophy if we win, they’re just going to take a team photo because we’re not worthy.”

He added that the criticism stems from fear and a lack of understanding of the achievement.

Tottenham’s Europa League final appearance marks a significant milestone for the club, which hasn’t won a trophy since 2008.
